About The Baro v2.0

ORIGIN

The Barong Tagalog originated from the Tagalog word baro that means “shirt” and is worn by both men and women prior to Spanish colonization. They would be paired in various ways with a salaual, with a tapis for women, robes, and/or a belt.  Majority of the influence came from trades from neighboring Asian regions.

During the Spanish era, the baro evolved from common working class attire into the current Barong Tagalog that has become known as the Philippines tuxedo.

INSPIRATION

The Barong Tagalog is traditional and is 100% OURS!  BUT the Barong is predominately reserved for formal events, imagine rocking a tuxedo to the grocery store, on your third date, or even with shorts (well some can pull it off).

We wanted to wear our Barong every where and any where.  We wanted to blend tradition with our modern day lives.  We wanted to include our KNOW HISTORY DNA into the silhouette while keeping it simple, clean, and versatile, hence the birth of The Baro.  Today we release a follow up to our SOLD OUT The Baro with an updated v2.0, now with a classic Mandarin Collar.  Welcome to The Baro 2.0.

THE BARO V2.0

Our custom cut-n-sew barong titled, "The Baro" is an every day modern day Barong that can be professional enough for the office, cool enough to wear during a date, chill enough to rock lounging around, and formal enough for a wedding and upscale events.  Pair The Baro with jeans, chinos, slacks, or shorts.  Ladies can rock as a dress with a belt or pair with tights or biker shorts. Tuck it in or let it hang, its versatile!

DETAILS

The  Barong's iconic embroidery is beautiful and can be extravagant.  The Baro embroidery is minimal, lightweight, and is 100% KNOW HISTORY!  Legend has stated that the Spanish forced Filipinos to wear the see through Barong to reveal any hidden weapons, so we hid it for you and created the embroidery with BOLO KNIVES!  Along the embroidery we added a running set of 8 ray stars representing the Philippine sun. We also updated the forward collar to use a short unfolded stand up collar, AKA Mandarin Collar.  The Mandarin Collar elevates the look while still complimenting The Baro's  easy going nature.
